Roco Mamas originally started their restaurant in South Africa, they’ve opened stores all around the world and now they’re here in Melbourne. They’re famous for their racks of ribs, smash burgers and MOFO wings. Hot tip: using your hands to eat is the best way to devour this meal.

We started with some cheese bombs which had a crunchy crumb and were filled with molten cheese and spicy chopped jalepeno. Yum.

The mother of all ribs was probably my fave. I can tell you this rack of bbq ribs and a bottle of red wine make for a fabulous meal. The meat was tender, the sauce was delicious and not too overpowering but if you’re opting for the full size, can confirm it’s definitely for sharing.

The buffalo wings were juicy and had a lovely flavour, paired with a creamy ranch sauce.

The mac and cheese patties were delicious. You can get them in your burger or just eat them as a side.

It was cheesy and I love that the macaroni still had form (it makes me sad when the macaroni is overcooked and mushy).

Now onto the burgers, we had ‘the slayer’ which was triple burger patties which were cooked perfectly (a little pink in the middle) with three decadent layers of cheese and pickles. Now that my friend is one great triple cheesy.

The ‘black star smash’ was amazing too. It had southern fried chicken with a fresh Hanoi slaw, onion, tomato and sweet chilli mayo in a black bun. Good balance of flavours.

The ‘bacon cheese guac’ had bacon, Wisconsin cheddar, tomato, fresh gauc, onion & roco mayo.

The ‘chilli cheese bomb’ smash burger had a good kick of chilli because it had slices of those hot red birdseye chillies. It had some bacon, a spicy cheese bomb, Wisconsin cheddar, mozzarella, fresh red chilli and MOFO mayo. It’s a good one.

They have a M.Y.O section where you can make your own burger exactly how you like it and there are heaps of ingredients to choose from.

The turbo charged fries were a good side, we had the bacon and cheese which had a good amount of cheese and was topped with crispy bacon pieces.

And then some oreo and peanut butter custard shakes for dessert.

I heart Roco Mamas!
