Rising Embers is Dainty Sichuan’s newest restaurant in the city serving up Sichuan BBQ so expect a flaming good time. There’s a touch screen at each table for you to place your order which is great because you can keep ordering things as you go without having to hail down a staff member and the grills are in the middle of the table so you can cook up the meat just the way you like it.

Rising Embers - sliced wagyu

We started with a plate of wagyu that was seared around the edges and thinly sliced. A good intro to the quality of meat.

The lamb skewers were cooked over the charcoals to perfection. They arrived to our table already cooked and had a bit of Sichuan spice and flavours of cumin which absolutely complimented that melt-in-your-mouth lamb. These were amazing.

The meat platter had a lovely array of wagyu meats which we cooked over the grill. They were tasty and we had a set of sauces each and some chilli powder to dip the meats in.

We also had some quality seafood, big plump scallops and juicy tiger prawns.

The spicy eggplant was roasted with garlic and chilli and topped with spring onion, this was a tasty side.

Purple sweet potato mash with grilled cheese is not something I would usually order but I’m glad we tried it because it’s absolutely delicious. I adore the sweet fluffy mash and savoury toasted cheese, the sweet-savoury balance totally works and kept me going back for more.

Fried rice is always a good side dish.

For dessert we had a matcha tiramisu which was delish.

They had a bowl of fresh fruit dusted with sour plum powder which tasted like sherbet.

And finally a pot of crème brulee.

I heart Rising Embers!
