Calling all sweet tooths. Tella balls dessert bar has opened in Melbourne Central and their desserts will have you dreaming of Nutella for days to come. Their specialty tella ball donut is soft and fluffy and filled with Nutella but just in case you’re not a fan of Nutella they have lots of other flavours too. The menu has interesting desserts that spark your curiosity like dessert kebabs, dessert pasta, dessert fish and chips and donut fries. If you’re looking for a sweet overload this place will do the trick.

We started with the classic Tella donut on top of a chocolate milkshake. The donut itself was amazing - a ball of soft fluffy sweet dough, dusted with sugar and filled with Nutella. They have a whole case of different flavoured donuts at the counter just in case for some crazy reason you don’t fancy Nutella. The milkshake was chocolatey but not too sweet which was great.

The Nutella waffle was epic. It was Nutella and fresh fruit sandwiched between two giant waffles and then covered in melted Nutella. Definitely not for one person, this is to be shared between two or three or four. It was huge. At first impressions I thought this was going to be overly sweet but I was wrong. The fresh strawberries and banana offset that sweet luxurious melted Nutella poured over the waffles.

They have an ice-cream bar too so you can get a couple of scoops of ice cream to go and you can even get those scoops in a donut cone. Yes, you heard right, not a waffle cone, a donut cone. I was worried the donut cone was going to be hard because after all it has to hold those big scoops of ice cream, but it was actually soft and fluffy like a fresh donut. You have to be careful when eating this one though it’s very fragile but totally delicious.

The dessert fish and chips were my fave. The ‘fish’ was fillets of deep fried ice cream and the ‘chips’ were deep fried donut chips. The ‘fish’ had a light crispy panko batter with creamy vanilla icecream inside and the donut chips were sweet and crunchy.

The donut chips came with melted chocolate dipping sauces in milk and white chocolate.

You can find the store in the lower ground foodcourt in Melbourne Central. Lots of sweetness to be had.

I heart Tella balls dessert bar!
