Melbourne is the home of AFL and no matter what team you barrack for you’ll be excited about what Riverland bar are doing this season. They have a ‘member’s lounge’ which gives you access to a special seated space at Riverland for two hours where you have unlimited drinks, cocktail foods and a ticket to a footy game of your choice in the lead up to the finals for only $59. It’s really great value, the food is delish and it’s only a short walk to the G, so why not grab your mates and make a day out of it.
The red and white wines were both lovely.
The mac and cheese bombs were delish with a crunchy outer and cheesy macaroni inside with a dot of creamy truffled aioli on top.
They had mini dim sims which were served with sweet chilli and sriracha.
Mini hotdog buns were a hit with a tasty chipolata sausage and sweet mustard with pickles.
Footy and meat pies go hand in hand so these party pies with tomato sauce went down a treat.
The fried chicken sliders were my fave with little buns filled with crispy fried chicken, fresh slaw, American cheese and chipotle mayo.
The last savoury dish was vegetarian empanadas which were little half-moon shaped pastries filled with mushroom, spinach and cheese with a herby chermoula sauce.
For dessert we had the churro-to-go with peanut butter chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. It was served in a takeaway box so you can take it with you as a traveller while you walk to the G.
It was the perfect pre-game event. We were well fed, a little tipsy, and ready for the game.
