Tutto Bene is an Italian restaurant with a beautiful terrazza (terrace) overlooking the yarra. With a sunny open seating area, a range of fruity cocktails, a gelato bar and quality ciccheti (a selection of Italian grazing snacks), you’ll be feeling those summer vibes in no time.
We started with a fresh fruity cocktail. The St. Germain spritz, was my fave, elderflower liquor, prosecco and lemon. It was like Summer in a glass. Loved it.
The crostini was crispy and had different flavoured spots scattered across it. Confit eggplant, whipped buffalo crumble, pomegranates, leaves and crushed walnut. It was a good combination of flavours and a textural delight.
I was a little unsure when I saw the cotoletta because it was made with wallaby meat, which I had never tried before but I loved it. It kind of tasted similar to a veal schnitzel. The crumb was crunchy and the meat was moist, with a squeeze of lemon, crushed pistachio and a good pinch of sea salt flakes, it was just perfect.
The baby calamari was stuffed with risotto, chilli, garlic and rocket. The little bite sized balls were bursting with flavour. That sauce. It was one of my faves.
The panzerotti was like crispy empanadas filled with a beautiful light truffle ricotta with cinnamon salt.
Zucchini flowers are best when stuffed, lightly battered and deep fried. These zucchini flowers were filled with a creamy, salty cod fish mousse.
The heirloom carrot mezzaluna pasta was absolutely delicious. The bright orange pasta filling against the beetroot foam made for a very colourful dish. It was garnished with smashed hazelnuts and sorrel pickle celery root.
They have a gelato bar on the outside of the restaurant so be sure to grab a cheeky waffle cone of gelato on your way.
Strolling down Southbank on a warm summer night with a gelato in hand. Sounds pretty good to me.
